Moenave Dinosaur Tracks

Chris's daughter moved to Denver in 2021 and we were tasked with delivering her boyfriend's car to them. You know what that means- road trip! We took the opportunity to see some sights along the way. One of our first stops was the Moenave Dinosaur Tracks on the Navajo reservation. This is another adventure I found just by following our route in Google maps to see what would pop up. The reviews are fantastic on Google, so I thought it'd be worth a stop.

The tracks are just off the 160 after turning off the 89 to head towards Tuba City.

It would be an easy stop if you're heading in/out of the Grand Canyon, up to Page, or even if you're staying in Flagstaff. When you turn east off the 89, keep your eyes open for a makeshift dinosaur tracks parking sign on your left. It's about 5 miles after getting on the 160. I would recommend you Google the site as there are a lot of pictures showing the area so that you know what you're looking for. It by no means looks official. Pull in and park. Usually there are Native American jewelry and craft stands there as well. When you park, it is likely that someone will walk up and offer you a tour. You can politely decline, or you should tip cash if you accept.

There was a monsoon storm that rolled through just before we pulled up. It dumped a TON of water which did hide the tracks a bit from us. There was literally water flowing like a river over many of them. The Google reviews have much better pictures than I do. The guide we had seemed knowledgeable, but keep in mind they are not scientists and not everything offered is accurate. But, it's still a good time and fun to spot signs of dinosaurs!
I do think it's worth a stop if you happen to be in the area. Just have $5-$20 cash on you and take a tour!
