Cocobeach

This was our favorite place on Moorea; it deserved it's own post!

I had read about Cocobeach before our trip, and it sounded pretty awesome, so we made reservations.

Getting There

First off, you must have reservations! Make sure you also book the boat shuttle. We took a taxi that our hotel called for us to the boat dock. Boats come every 30 minutes between 10 am and 1 pm. While you're waiting at the dock, you'll probably see some crabs digging holes in the sand and some black tip reef sharks in the water.

They bring you back to the same spot, leaving at 3 pm on weekdays or 4 pm on weekends, at the latest. Have a ride set up to meet you back at the boat dock when you plan to return. It's difficult to get a ride on short notice. We set up our pick up with the taxi driver that dropped us off.

The Restaurant

As you arrive, you check in and they take you to your table, which you have for the whole day.

Order some drinks, relax, and then head down to beach. Your table will safely hold your stuff for you, and the waiters are very friendly and attentive.

They brought us an olive snack as we waited for our food.

They have a great drink and food menu.

The food was delicious!

The Beach

The highlight of the trip is the beach. Bring snorkel gear! After we ordered drinks, I headed down to the water and immediately saw stingrays! I ran back, grabbed by gear and my GoPro and headed back in the water.

There were also some black tip reef sharks swimming around!

You'll find some other sea life too. I think there are tours that frequent this area as well due to the large ray and shark life found. I saw this interesting fish; I don't know what it's actually called, but I think of it as a carpet fish.

We loved our first trip so much, we made reservations for a second trip while we were there!

For this next trip, we were prepared. We had seen people feeding the rays with shrimp tails, so we ordered shrimp and fed bits to the rays.

There are a lot of people doing water sports right in front of Cocobeach which were fun to watch as well.

We loved Cocobeach. You should absolutely put this on your list if you're going to Moorea!
