Moorea Activites

Drive Around the Island
One day on Moorea, we rented a car roadster for a day from Moorea Fun Roadster and drove around the island. They provided us this map which I've kept. As you can see, there's only one road around the island.
It's basically impossible to get lost!

Our first stop was Belvedere Lookout. From here, you can see both Opunohu and Cook's Bays.

It was beautiful!

Next up, we stopped at nearby Marae Ti'i-rua, a historical site.

You can also find a pineapple plantation nearby.

A definite lunch spot while you have a car should be Snack Mahana; make sure and order the poisson cru (Tahitian ceviche)!

We also made a stop at the Rotui Juice Factory.

The best part of this stop was the juice tasting, some of which was alcoholic.
Just seeing the island was pretty cool.

We did a full lap around the island.

Now, if I did this again, I'd skip the roadster and find a car with a/c! It was very hot driving around in that thing!

Food Tour
One of our favorite activities in a new place is taking a food tour. The tours are often put on by locals, who can share some insights about the place that you wouldn't normally get. On Moorea, we took the Tama'a Street Food Tour. And our timing was perfect because that was the only day that it rained a lot.

Our guide was so kind and was able to share a lot about the island with us. She was a local teacher and shared everything from hardships of the island to the best place to buy pearls. For instance, she shared with us that a lot of kids drop out of school as they reach high school because there wasn't a local high school yet on the island. To go to high school, kids have to take an early morning ferry to Tahiti! Luckily, a high school was being built on Moorea while we were there.
We went to places I'd normally never think to stop, like the ferry dock for fresh fruit!

Everything we ate was good.
She even drove us up the mountain for some ice cream and a great view.

We had to book it to the van when it started pouring!
We made another stop at the juice factory as well.

She made sure to stop at lookouts and we never felt rushed.

She even gave us time to shop for pearls! My hubby spoiled me with some Tahitian black pearls. A great gift to remember our honeymoon by.
Restaurants
You'll get tired of eating at the same two restaurants at the Hilton. I'd recommend you make some reservations at some local eateries. Most of the restaurants provide free transportation to/from the hotel (pick up is from the parking lot- not the hotel lobby!). We hit up Rudy's and Moorea Beach Cafe.

Rudy's has great food (and drinks).
Moorea Beach Cafe had an awesome view! There were also a few spots within walking distance from the Hilton. For lunch a couple times, we walked to Tiki Ata. They had seating in the water, but you have to make reservations ahead of time for those prime spots.
Just down the road was a macaroon trailer. The first macaroon I've ever had!
Get a Taxi to Town
The day we were set to leave, we had hours to kill after check out but before our bus came. We decided to take a taxi into "town" to do some more shopping. The main shopping area is near Manava Resort. We bought some trinkets, had some lunch, and had our last taste of Hinano beer before heading home.
I would suggest having one thing planned each day you're on Moorea. While it was nice to relax, I kind of wish we had something planned each day we were there. Albert Tours seemed like a good company. Their ATV tour and lagoon tour looked fun.

The kids were very jealous of this trip, and it would be a great family trip as well with the biggest issues being cost and the long travel to get there and back.

It was the perfect honeymoon.
